How it all began
when I was not yet in my teen years, My Grandfather came to visit. Amongst the fishing gear packed in his old Station Wagon was a box containing something that would change me forever. it was a chain carved from a single piece of wood. in a few hours my Grandfather was teaching me how to whittle one for myself. about a month later and half a box of band-aids, I presented him with my first whittled chain. As I grew older, My love for whittling transformed into carving and wood turning. The transformation is still happening to this day as my imagination and creativity keeps the memory of my Grandfather alive.
More than pens
Many years ago, I moved into a home nestled upon a river bed of rocks which resisted the growth of trees. Every tree I planted in the yard withered and dried up. There was one tree that I did not plant that did grow. after several years this mysterious tree reached high into the sky. one stormy night as I watched a storm, the tree was split from top to bottom by a booming bolt of lightning. After the storm passed, I went to remove the splintered remains of my beloved tree only to discover an amazing painting of Mother Nature hidden inside. I imagined flowers. I had never carved flowers before but what better way to preserve the mystery and intrigue of the tree I did not plant.
A taste of Creativity
Here is the great wizard Grey Eyes. Once imprisoned in the trunk of an old pine tree, Grey Eyes called out for me to release him. I took the old pine tree home and began to remove all the material that did not look like Grey Eyes. He carries a magic staff topped with a crystal but his best feature is the Montana Yogo Saphires that he sees the world through.
